10 Reasons Why Your Business Needs a Facebook Page

Apart from business hosting, Facebook pages are a valuable way to get discovered by potential clients, generate new business leads and connect with existing ones. Our latest blog post discusses 10 reasons why your business should have its own Facebook page.

  • It’s free and is great for branding. Why not?
  • If you do it right, you can get a lot of exposure at no cost to you, except for the time it takes to set up a Facebook Page. A basic page takes just minutes to set up, but of course for it to be truly effective you should customize the page at least a little. Watch out for another blog post on just how to do this, soon!

  • Facebook has 500 million users around the world, 100 million of whom are in the U.S. and the average user spends an hour on Facebook every day.
  • Need I say more?

  • Your business may go viral.
  • When someone “likes” your page, or becomes a fan in other words, this action is reflected in their newsfeed and all their friends get to know about it. Of course it would help if your product or service has mass appeal, but getting your name out there is a vital first step.

  • Reach out to your existing clients and fans.
  • Facebook (and Twitter) has proved to be an excellent way for companies, big and small, to connect with their clients at a personal, more human level. With Facebook, not only can you send out news updates within seconds (which will then show up on your fans’ Facebook newsfeed, likely to be the first website they see everyday), you can also increase customer satisfaction and retention by using social media as a platform to answer client questions and address any problems.

  • Track the interaction people have with your page.
  • Facebook’s “insights” program provides vital demographic statistics about the people who like your page and shows how people interact with your page. You’re also allowed to integrate Google Analytics into your Facebook page.

  • Promote your events quickly and easily.
  • You can easily invite your Facebook “fans” to any events your business might be holding. And if a non-fan gets to know about an event, they’ll see your Facebook page linked as the host.

  • It’s customizable.
  • You can add graphics, create new tabs and use hundreds of applications available on Facebook. Have a look at our own Facebook page and let us know what you think!

  • Facebook Fan Pages, unlike groups, are indexed by search engines and are still visible to people who have not yet registered on the site.
  • Again, why not? This is a great way to increase visibility. The more people hear about your brand and the more recognizable it becomes, the more likely for visitors to turn into actual clients. Besides that, Facebook pages track stats like your user demographic and interactions, and that’s always useful.

  • There is no limit to the number of Facebook fans you can have.
  • If you’re using a personal Facebook profile for your business, stop right there. It’s against Facebook’s terms of service and your profile, along with all the work you put into it, can be pulled at any time. Besides that, personal profiles have a limit of 5000 friends, so you can’t grow beyond that and it’ll be very difficult to transfer over even if you want to. You also can’t send a mass update to your friends if you have a personal profile and don’t forget what I mentioned earlier about tracking statistics!

  • New “fans” don’t need to be approved or accepted first.
  • This will save a lot of time if you’re using a personal profile for your business. Groups don’t have this limitation by default though.
